Persenico's Four Goals Sink Wildcats

Jake Persenico netted three goals in the first half and four in the game to lift Clarke University to a 4-0 Heart of America Athletic Conference victory over the Culver-Stockton College men's soccer team Wednesday night at Ellison Poulton Stadium.

Persenico notched a natural hat trick in the first half, scoring three goals in a six minute span to put the Pride comfortably ahead at the intermission. Persenico added his fourth goal in the 80th minute of the game to complete his career night. Persenico registered eight of the Wildcats 15 shots in the game.

The Wildcats were outshot 15-13 overall but did have two more shots than the Pride in the second half as the hosts showed some desperation trying to climb back into the game. Austin Jones led C-SC with three shots. C-SC and the Pride were also even in corner kicks with six each.

The Wildcats have lost four straight to fall to 1-5 overall and 1-4 in the conference. C-SC has only two goals this season and hasn't scored since netting both goals against William Penn in the second game of the season.

C-SC returns to action this Saturday, Oct. 10, when they host Benedictine College in a Heart contest at Poulton Stadium. Kickoff is set for 7:30 p.m.
