Garnet Ferron Signs with Professional Soccer League
Former Culver-Stockton College midfielder Garnet Ferron signed with the Illinois Piasa of the Professional Arena Soccer League (PASL) recently. He played his first match against the Wichita B-52s on Jan. 18.
Ferron, a 5-foot-9, 135-pound midfielder, was a four-year letterwinner for the Wildcats. He played in 59 career matches, making 38 starts, scoring four career goals and adding three assists for a total of 11 career points.
"Garnet is a very gifted player with great technical and creative ability that is so fun to watch," said Culver-Stockton coach Blake Ordell. "This is a great accomplishment and I wish him the best of luck in his journey to pursue his professional playing career."
Illinois Piasa is located in Pontoon Beach, Ill., and plays its matches at The Field Sports Complex. The team played in the Premier Arena Soccer League from 2007-10 as Piasa FC. They moved to the Professional Arena Soccer League in 2010 as Illinois Piasa.
The Premier Arena Soccer League was founded in 1998 as a regional amateur league that gave facility owners the ability to stage elite level amateur games and compete on a regional and national basis.
From humble beginnings the league that today is known as PASL-Premier grew to over 50 teams.
Citing a need in the marketplace for a professional indoor league with a sensible financial structure the league branched out in 2008 and created the Professional Arena Soccer League (PASL).
The PASL started play in 2008-09 with eight teams and today the PASL-Premier serves as its official developmental league.
