Men's Bowling Falls to Consolation Bracket After First Day Loss

The Culver-Stockton men's bowling team competed in the opening round of the NAIA National Tournament on Thursday, competing at Five Star Lanes in Sterling Heights, Michigan.

The Wildcats began the day competing in the qualifying baker games, vying for seeding in the championship bracket. C-SC rolled a 762 in the first baker set to begin the day and was pretty consistent through the next five baker sets, ending with a grand total of 4611, good for the 12th seed in the 12-team field.

C-SC faced fifth-seeded Milligan (Tenn.) first round of the championship bracket, with the team's playing baker games in a head-to-head series, best-of-seven. The Wildcats opened strong and won the first game 193-162. However, Milligan would barley claim the second game 206-204 to tie the series, and then claim game three 224-184. In the fourth game. Milligan rolled a perfect baker game and took a commanding lead with a 300-139 victory before closing out the match with a 223-212 victory in the fifth game.

The Wildcats will continue their quest for an NAIA Championship Friday morning at 10:00 a.m. They will face the loser of the match between Lawrence Tech University (Mich.) and Concordia (Mich.).
