Men's Basketball Ends Non-Conference Slate with Loss to Mo. Baptist
The Culver-Stockton men's basketball team suffered a 90-70 non-conference home loss to Missouri Baptist University Wednesday night at Charles Field House.
The Spartans shot 65 percent from the 3-point arc in the second half and outscored the Wildcats 49-31 after leading by just a basket (41-39) at halftime. C-SC is winless in four games this season.
MBU made 11 three-pointers in the second half and 17 treys overall on 36 attempts. The Spartans shot 45.5 percent overall from the field and was 13-for-15 from the free throw line. C-SC shot 40 percent from the field and and 46 percent from beyond the 3-point arc, draining 11 of its 24 attempts. The Wildcats were just 9-for-18 from the free throw line.
In addition, the Wildcats registered 14 turnovers in the game and the Spartans took advantage by scoring 18 points off those miscues. MBU also had a 24-14 edge with points in the paint and its bench outscored the Wildcat bench 37-12.
The Wildcats led by as many as nine points in the first half, but the Spartans rallied late to take a two-point lead at 41-39 to the intermission.
Ryan Stevenson led three C-SC players in double figures with 19 points, going 6-for-12 from the field, including 4-for-6 from the 3-point stripe. Connor Davis added 17 points and two steals, while Roee Dinnar had 11 points and eight rebounds.
The Wildcats (0-4) begin Heart of America Athletic Conference play this Saturday, Nov. 16, with a road game at Peru State College in Peru, Neb. Game time is scheduled for 2 p.m.
