Wildcats Pile Up Season High in Yards in Rout of William Penn

The Culver-Stockton College football team piled up a season-high 518 yards of total offense in a 49-21 victory over William Penn University at Statesmen Community Stadium Saturday afternoon in Oskaloosa, Iowa.

The Wildcats have now won three consecutive games to improve their record to 5-4 overall and 3-0 in the Heart of America Athletic Conference North Division. The victory Saturday sets up a showdown next week against second-ranked Grand View University at Ellison Poulton Stadium. The Vikings are 9-0 overall and 3-0 in the North after dismantling Peru State 31-3 in Peru, Neb. Kickoff is slated for 1 p.m.

Against the Statesmen, quarterback Jase Orndorff threw for 388 yards and three touchdowns to lead the offensive attack. He completed 33 of his 47 passes and did not throw an interception, the third straight week C-SC had not thrown a pick.

Orndorff's main target was Slayton Ochoa, who had 11 receptions for 89 yards. Mason Hackman, Kaden Ashlock and Demarquez Johnson all caught four balls each with Hackman collecting two of Orndorff's three touchdowns. Hackman finished with 96 yards receiving. Dominic Herrera caught the other touchdown pass from Orndorff.

The Wildcats also rushed for 130 yards on the day, the third straight week C-SC has topped the 100-yard plateau on the ground. It is the fourth time in nine games this season C-SC has gained 100 or more yards on the ground.

Johnson led the ground attack with 87 yards on 16 carries and one touchdown,a one-yard runin the fourth quarter. Kyouta Setoyama and Orndorff also scored on one-yard touchdown runs.

Defensively, C-SC limited the Statesmen to 258 yards total yards, including just 60 yards on the ground. The Wildcat defense harassed the William Penn quarterback all day and registered five sacks in the game. Anthony Butler led the way with 1.5 sacks, while Noah Dukes and Hunter Feiden both had one sack each.

Hyland Generlette led the defense with eight tackles, including half a sack, while David Hernandez and Feiden totaled seven tackles each.

The Wildcats also forced three turnovers, one interception and two fumble recoveries, in the game. Anthony Flores picked off his second pass of the season, while Kendall Fowler and Chris Rogers each recovered their first fumbles of the year.
