Martin to play in all-star football game
Senior defensive back Juan Martin will be the lone player representative from Culver-Stockton in the fourth annual College Fanz Senior Classic football all-star game, set for Saturday, April 24, at 1 p.m. in Salina, Kan.
The College Fanz Senior Classic pits 130 former NAIA football players against one another in a showcase of talent and character.
Martin, who is expected to suit up for the American squad coached by Ottawa University (Kan.) Coach Kent Kessinger, is the third Wildcat player to appear in this game, joining Mike Rose and Tom McDaniel, who played in the inaugural game in 2007.
Martin, a 5-10, 175-pound safety, was second on the team with 86 tackles last season for the Wildcats. He recorded 2.5 tackles for loss, one interception, one fumble recovery and two forced fumbles. He also was credited with six pass breakups.
For his efforts, Martin was named to the HAAC all-conference team as a honorable mention selection.
Wildcat assistant coaches Justin Gumm and Seth Bass will join Martin at the classic and coach the running backs and the wide receivers, respectively.
