Wildcats Begin Final Weekend with Doubleheader Loss to William Penn
The Culver-Stockton baseball team began the final weekend of the season by dropping a doubleheader to William Penn University by the scores of 7-3 and 21-6 at Nichols Field Friday afternoon.
The Wildcats banged out 19 hits offensively but it wasn't nearly enough as the Statesmen registered 30 hits in the two games, including four doubles and one home run.
Ethan Weber collected two hits and scored two runs, while Jack Linenfelser had two runs batted in in the opener.
In the nightcap, the Wildcats collected 12 hits with Harry Oden going 3-for-4 with a RBI. Brandon Diaz Valentin added two runs batted in, while Weber and Tyler Schmidt garnered a RBI each.
The best pitcher of the day for the Wildcats was Cole Peterson, who saw action in both games. Peterson hurled three innings of shutout relief and allowed one hit while striking out three.
The Wildcats and Statesmen will conclude the regular season on Saturday, April 25, with another doubleheader at Nichols Field. The first pitch is scheduled for 1 p.m. following senior day ceremonies, which is scheduled to begin at 12:30 p.m.
