Wildcats, Graceland Split Pair of High-scoring Games

Culver-Stockton and Graceland split its four-game Heart of America Athletic Conference series Sunday by each taking a game in Sunday's doubleheader at Chase Stadium in Lamoni, Iowa.

Graceland scored five or more runs in three of the seven innings en route to a 24-8 victory in game one Sunday. The Wildcats responded in the nightcap with 11 runs between the second and third inning to claim a 12-7 decision.

In the victory, C-SC belted out 12 hits, including two doubles, a triple and a home run. 

Jack Linenfelser had a two run double in the Wildcats' seven run second inning, and Giancarlo Arroyo drilled a two-run homer. Coopere Kiel added a RBI triple, while Ethan Weber and General Schofield delivered RBI singles. 

Harry Oden drove in four runs, including two with double in a four-run third inning. 

Three players recorded two hits in the game, led by Linenfelser, Weber and Brandon Diaz Valentin. Valentin, Linenfelser, Arroyo and courtesy runner Tyler Schmidt all scored two runs each.

Carter Jones pitched the first six inning to earn the victory. Jones gave up eight hits and five runs while walking one and striking out six.

In the opener, C-SC got four hits and four RBI from Weber, while Kiel had two hits and three runs batted in. Valentin and Dallas Slayton also had two hits as the Wildcats belted out 14 hits in the game.

C-SC returns home this Friday, April 3, to start a four-game series with Clarke University. The first of two games is scheduled to start at 1 p.m. at Nichols Field.
