Baseball Drops Home Doubleheader to Mount Mercy
The Culver-Stockton baseball team dropped a doubleheader to Mount Mercy University to begin a four-game series Sunday afternoon at Nichols Field.
The Wildcats gave up a 4-3 lead in the top of the seventh, rallied to tie the game at six with a two-run rally in the bottom of the seventh before falling to the Mustangs 9-7 in nine innings of game one.
In game two, Mount Mercy scored in five of the seven innings en route to a 12-3 victory to complete the sweep.
The two teams are scheduled to complete the series with another doubleheader Monday afternoon with first pitch slated for 1 p.m.
In the opener, Caden Power led an 11-hit attack by going 3-for-5 with two runs scored for C-SC. Andrew Fay collected two hits and three runs batted in, while Collin Hall and Brandon Aragon also recorded two hits. Jordan Scott had two runs batted in.
In the nightcap, C-SC collected just six hits off of three Mustang pitchers with Keli'i Price the only Wildcat to register two hits. Price drove in a run with a RBI triple. Jaison Andujar drove in other two runs for the Wildcats with a single and a sacrifice fly.
