Kartheiser, Pott Garner Heart Baseball Honors

Culver-Stockton College placed two players on the 2015 Heart of America Athletic Conference all-conference baseball team.

Senior Brock Kartheiser earned second team honors as a pitcher while junior infielder Jake Pott was an honorable mention selection as a first baseman.

Kartheiser, of Somonauk, Ill. (Somonauk HS / Sauk Valley CC), played several positions this season, including pitcher. He only recorded a 2-6 overall record with a 4.71 earned run average in 12 appearances this season. However, he was 2-2 with a 3.00 ERA and one shutout in five appearances in league play.

In 30 innings pitched in conference play, Kartheiser allowed 32 hits, 16 runs (10 earned), seven walks and 28 strikeouts. Overall, he pitched 65 innings, walked 22 and struck out 52.

In his three-year career, Kartheiser recorded a 13-9 overall record with a 3.60 earned run average in 170 total innings pitched. He had 15 complete games, five shutouts, walked 49 and struck out 116 in 170 innings pitched.

Meanwhile, Pott, of Monterey, Calif. (Galt HS / Butte College), was the only player to play in all 53 games for the Wildcats this season. He led the team in batting average (.320), hits (55), runs (32), runs batted in (32), doubles (12) and home runs (2). In addition, Pott recorded 13 multiple hit games, a team-best seven multiple RBI games, and a 10-game hitting streak.

In conference games, Pott batted .400 with nine doubles, one home run and 19 runs batted in. He collected 34 hits in 85 at-bats, scored 17 runs and pilfered five stolen bases.

Culver-Stockton concluded the 2015 campaign with a 15-38 overall record and placed third in the HAAC's Eastern Division with a 10-16 league mark and advanced to the HAAC Baseball Championship Series for the second consecutive season.
