Olson, Gnade Named as March Recipients of Student Athletes of the Month

Culver-Stockton College lacrosse player Bella Olson, and men's volleyball player Malachi Gnade have been named Primo's Pizza and Subs Student-Athletes of the Month for March.

Olson, a junior from Kansas City, Mo. (Park Hill HS), is a three-year starter for the Wildcats who appeared in 41 career games, making 31 starts. She registered 10 goals and 36 assists for 46 points in her career. The 36 career assists sit atop the school's all-time list while her total points are sixth all-time. Additionally, Olson is ranked fifth in ground balls with 62 career pickups.

During the 2025 campaign, Olson garnered a school record 25 assists to lead the team. She added six goals for 31 points. Olson gathered 29 ground balls and controlled 23 draws for the Wildcats. She also set a school single game record for assists with seven against Mount Mercy on March 19.

Off the field, Olson, who is graduating after only three years, is pursuing a degree in biology with a minor in chemistry. She was awarded the general chemistry achievement award as a sophomore. Olson has been named to the President's List for four semesters and the Provost's List one semester. She is a member of the Tri Beta Biology Honor Society and is a teaching assistant and tutor for the chemistry department.

Gnade, a junior from Old Monroe, Mo. (Saint Dominic HS), is a three-year starter for the men's volleyball program who has played in 285 sets covering 85 career matches. During his career, Gnade has recorded 637 career kills, which ranks fifth on the school's all-time list, and 353 career digs, which is ranked sixth on the career list. In addition, Gnade's 64 career service aces are ranked third all-time.

During the 2025 season, Gnade appeared in all 29 matches and 103 of the 109 sets played during the season. He was second on the team with 191 terminations and third on the team with 121 digs. Gnade also received 559 serves during the season with just 31 errors for a 94.5 percent success rate.  

In the classroom, Gnade is pursuing a degree in math education with minors in religion/philosophy and computer/data science. He was named to the President's List three times during his tenure on the Hill. He has also been named to the Provost's List one time and the Honor Roll one time. Additionally, Gnade serves as a student worker and a STEAM Day teacher with the education department, and he is a residential assistant and works in the library.

Olson and Gnade join Lauren Bloom (women's volleyball) and Gannon McNamee (men's cross country/track and field) in the month September; Alayna Chandler-Gutierrez (women's soccer) and Demarion Cobb (football) in October; Ashleigh Brawley (women's volleyball) and Rommarrus Hinson (football) in November; Maggie Tuxhorn (women's soccer) and Ethan Wilkinson-Felgate in December as honorees.

Also, Jasmine Saunders (women's bowling) and Connor Davis (men's basketball) in January and Kataleena Hunt and Kile Dowd in February as 2024-25 scholar-athletes of the month. The Wildcat Athletic Department picks two student-athletes (one male / one female) each month throughout the school year recognizing students for their academic and athletic achievements.
