Grothaus graduated as the all-time leader in most of the passing categories for the Wildcats. He holds single game records for pass completions (38), passing yards (523) and touchdown passes (4). Grothaus holds season records for passes attempted (342), passes completed (220) and passing yards (2,928). He also holds the career marks for completed passes (547) and passing yards (7,384), and he holds game (532), season (3,346) and career (9,034) records for total yards.
Schreiter, a native of Quincy, Ill., was a four-year letterwinner and an inaugural member of the women's soccer program. She was a three-time All-Heart of America Athletic Conference selection, including a two-time first team honoree.
Schreiter is the most prolific scorer in the 15-year history of the program, holding school records for goals in a game (6 vs. Lincoln Christian), season (25) and career (81). She also holds the school records for points in a game (12), season (54) and career (181). Schreiter completed her career with 81 goals and 19 assists. In addition, she also performed well in the classroom and was named a NAIA Scholar-Athlete both years she was eligible.
The 1999 baseball team advanced further than any other Wildcat baseball team in school history, placing third at the NAIA World Series in West Palm Beach, Fla.
The Wildcats, coached by 2013 inductee Doug Bletcher, were mired with a 15-16 overall record and a 7-7 conference mark midway through the 1999 campaign before going 12-1 to finish the regular season with a 27-16 overall record and qualifying for the HAAC Tournament.
The Wildcats continued their winning ways, capturing the HAAC Tournament title with three straight victories, the last two coming over Lindenwood University. The highlight came in the title game as Brad Medina drilled a walk-off solo home run to give the Wildcats the title and a berth in the Midwest Regional.
C-SC then won three more games in the Midwest Regional in Sioux City, Iowa, before its winning streak was snapped at 18 games in the first championship game against Lindenwood. The next day, the Wildcats punched their second straight ticket to the World Series with a 7-3 victory over the Lions.
At the national tournament, the Wildcats opened with a 7-1 victory over Dominican (N.Y.) before a 14-0 loss to Lewis-Clark (Idaho) sent the 'Cats to the loser's bracket. C-SC bounced back with victories over Indiana Tech and Bellevue (Neb.) before falling a game short of the title game with a 7-2 loss to Albertson (Idaho).
The Wildcats completed the season with a 37-19 overall record, going 22-3 after that 15-16 start. Peter Lopez led the pitching staff with a 10-2 overall record while Greg Modica finished 7-3. Medina led the offense with a .423 batting average. Catcher Gary Sloan drove in a team-high 64 runs and was named to the NAIA All America team as an honorable mention selection.
