Culver-Stockton College women's soccer players Leah Miller and Kehley Bitzas were named the Heart of America Athletic Conference Women's Soccer Offensive and Defensive Players of the Week, respectively, for their play last week in a tie with Missouri Valley and a victory over Baker.
Miller, a senior forward from Lake St. Louis, Mo. (Wentzville Holt HS), scored a goal in each game last week, including the game-winner in the Wildcats' victory over Baker Saturday night. Miller currently has nine goals this season and 23 in her career, which ties her with Sarah Muller for fourth place on the Wildcats' all-time goal scoring list.
Meanwhile, Bitzas, a sophomore goalkeeper, from Greenvale, Australia (Ivanhoe Grammar School), was honored for the second time this season after allowing two goals in 200 minutes of play as the Wildcats tied Missouri Valley 1-1 and defeated Baker 2-1 last week.
Bitzas, who was also named the player of the week on Sept. 25, registered 13 saves in the two matches, including six against Baker, which was handed its first conference loss of the year. In the two matches, Bitzas had a 0.90 goals against average.
The Wildcats, who are currently 7-4-1 overall and 3-2-1 in the conference, are scheduled to host Avila University this Wednesday, Oct. 11, at NX Level Field. Game time is slated for 5 p.m.
