The Culver-Stockton College cross country teams competed in the Fighting Bees Invitational hosted by Saint Ambrose University at Crow Creek Park in Bettendorf, Iowa, Saturday morning.
The women's team fielded a five-person team and finished 13th overall in a strong NAIA field. The Wildcats covered the 6-kilometer course in a time of 132:19, averaging 5:10 per kilometer.
Samantha Shipp was the Wildcats' top finisher, placing 91st overall with a time of 24:49. Lezlie Wofford finished 99th with a time of 25:44 while Katelyn Neff finished 100th overall with a time of 25:52, and Taylor Vaughn finished 101st overall with a time 25:53. Breanna Dutro rounded out the fivesome with a 123rd place finish with a time of 29:59.
The men's team had only four runners competing so no team score was recorded. Jordan Graves was the top finisher for the men in the 8-kilometer race, finishing 124th overall with a time of 33:01.
Miguel Obregon finished 126th overall with a time of 33:18 while Landon Ayers placed 127th overall with a time of 33:42. Brian Bangi was the fourth runner for the Wildcats, placing 138th overall with a time of 39:32.
Both teams will be in action in two weeks, Saturday, Oct. 21, when they compete at the Seminole Valley Stampede in Cedar Rapids, Iowa. The women's race is set for 10:30 a.m. with the men's race to follow at 11:30 a.m.
