Saint Ambrose University netted three first half goals en route to a 3-2 victory over the Culver-Stockton College women's soccer team Wednesday night at the St. Vincent Athletic Complex in Davenport, Iowa.
The Bees, who are receiving votes in this week's NAIA Top 25 national poll, answered quickly with a goal in the eighth minute, and then added a go ahead goal in the 15th minute. Saint Ambrose added an insurance goal in the 27th minute to account for its scoring.
The Bees held onto that two-goal lead until the 71st minute when Addy Jasso notched her first collegiate goal to bring the Wildcats to within 3-2. McKinstry added her fourth assist of the season.
The Wildcats, who were outshot 14-9 in the game, never threatened to tie the game after Jasso's goal, recording just one shot over the final 20 minutes of the game. That shot came from Leah Miller, who directed her attempt wide.
The Wildcats, now 3-2 overall, is scheduled to begin Heart of America Athletic Conference play this Saturday, Sept. 16, at MidAmerica Nazarene University in Olathe, Kan. Game time is slated for 1 p.m.
