The Culver-Stockton College men's soccer team dominated the second half in its 4-0 victory over Viterbo University (Wis.) at NX Level Field inside Ellison Poulton Stadium Saturday night.
Leading 1-0 at the intermission, the Wildcats scored three goals in the first 10 minutes of the second half to make a close, tight game, a rout. Mackenzie Northern netted his third goal of the season to make it 2-0 in the 48th minute, William Mansfield added his second goal of the year in the 54th minute, while James Morris collected his first goal of the season in the 56th minute.
C-SC, which held an 8-1 edge in shots in the first half, had 20 shots in the second half to finish with a 28-3 advantage. Twelve of the Wildcats' 20 second half shots were on goal. C-SC finished with 17 shots on goal.
Reece Miller opened the scoring with his first goal of the season in the 40th minute of the first half. Patrick Stutt delivered a pass to Alejandro Ramos near the endline and Ramos sent a cross into the penalty area that Miller re-directed with his head past V-Hawk goalkeeper Ben Kellner.
Eighteen different players recorded a shot for the Wildcats in the match. Northern led the way with five shots, while Gage Mossman totaled three shots. Four different players had two shots overall. Greg McCrudden, Northern and Stutt all recorded assists on the second half goals. Nicholas Luciani played the first 67 minutes and Sebastiao Dutschke finished up to share the shutout.
C-SC, now 2-1-1 overall, is scheduled to play at Saint Ambrose University this Wednesday, Sept. 13, in Davenport, Iowa. Game time is set for 7:30 p.m.
