The Culver-Stockton College women's volleyball team won its second match in as many nights with a 25-20, 25-20, 25-16 victory over Stephens College (Mo.) Friday night at Charles Field House.
One night after sweeping Hannibal-LaGrange University, the Wildcats never let the Stars get going in the opening set, recording an 80 percent side out percentage in the set. The only negative for the Wildcats were six of their 11 service errors came in the first set to keep Stephens in the set.
The next two set saw the Wildcats pull away in both before holding off late charges by the Stars. There was only seven ties and two lead changes in the match.
For the second consecutive night, the Wildcats were paced by Gabby Hickman with nine kills. Hickman committed just two errors on 28 swings for a hitting percentage of .250. McKenna Weaver added seven kills and had a hitting percentage of .350, while Monica Bumbry totaled six terminations.
Anna Stock totaled 12 digs to lead the defense. Hickman just missed double figures with nine digs, while Weaver also recorded nine digs. The Wildcats had eight team blocks on the night with Paige Webster garnering one solo block and four block assists to lead the way.
C-SC (5-8) returns to action this Tuesday, Sept. 12, when they host 12th-ranked Missouri Baptist University at Charles Field House. Game time is slated for 7 p.m.
