Culver-Stockton College sprinter Paige Bray will compete in the 2017 NAIA Outdoor Track and Field Championships, May 25-27, at Mickey Miller Blackwell Stadium in Gulf Shores, Ala.
Bray, a junior from LaHarpe, Ill. (Illini West HS), qualified for the national meet in both the 100-meter dash and 200-meter dash. She is ranked fifth in the NAIA in the 200 with a time of 24.05 seconds, which was run at the L.D. Weldon Classic on April 9, and ranks eighth in the 100 with a time of 11.83 seconds, which was run at the Heart of America Athletic Conference Championships May 6. Both times are school records.
A conference champion in both events, Bray is scheduled to run in the 200-meter preliminary trials at 4:50 p.m. Thursday, May 25, and the 100-meter preliminary trials Friday, May 26. Finals for both events are set for Saturday, May 27, with the 100-meter dash finals slated for 3:50 p.m., and the finals for the 200-meter dash set for 5:10 p.m.
Bray, who was named the women's track athlete of the meet at the conference championships, is just the third female athlete from Culver-Stockton to qualify for the NAIA Outdoor Championships and the first since 2010 when Janet Plonka qualified in the high jump and Courtney Spann qualified in the 5,000-meter race walk. Plonka also qualified for the national championships in 2009.
