Lucy Clark shot an 8-over 79 during the second round of the Heart of America Athletic Conference Women's Golf Championships to finish in sixth place at Edmundson Golf Course in Oskaloosa, Iowa Tuesday afternoon.
Clark, the defending champion, began the day five shots behind first round leader Helene Larson of William Penn University. However, Clark struggled with eight bogeys and no birdies on the day. She recorded four bogeys on the front nine and four bogeys on the back nine to end the 36-hole tournament at 13-over 155.
Kimberly Nelson of Grand View University carded a 6-over 77 during the second round and claimed medalist honors with an 8-over 150 (73-77). Larson finished at 10-over 81 Tuesday to finish in a tie for third place at 10-over 152 (71-81).
William Penn claimed the team title with a score of 39-over 607, finishing 48 strokes ahead of Grand View, which recorded an 87-over 655. Baker University was third (+109) and Peru State was fourth (+119).
Haley Barraza and Tara Bradley also participated in the tournament for the Wildcats. Barraza carded a 37-over 179 (90-89) to finish tied for 27th place, while Bradley recorded a 40-over 182 (88-94) to end in a tie for 31st place.
