The Heart of America Athletic Conference released its all-conference softball team Monday afternoon and Culver-Stockton College placed one player on the 2017 team.
Outfielder Avery Johnson was named to the second team for the second consecutive season.
Johnson, a sophomore from Durham, Mo. (Highland HS), started all 50 games for the Wildcats, batting a team-high .346. She recorded team-highs in hits (54), runs (36), and doubles (13). In addition, Johnson registered 30 runs batted in, six home runs and six stolen bases. She led the team with 12 multiple hit games and was second with seven multiple RBI games.
During the season, Johnson reached base in 34 consecutive games. In addition, Johnson committed just one error on 73 chances for a .986 fielding percentage. She had five assists from her centerfield position.
In league games, Johnson batted .373 with 10 doubles, five home runs and 23 runs batted in. She had 41 hits, 27 runs scored and 14 walks against league opponents.
The Wildcats concluded the 2017 campaign with a 24-26 overall record and placed ninth in the Heart with a 15-20 league mark.
