Paige Bray captured conference championships in the 100-meter and 200-meter dashes to lead the Culver-Stockton College track and field team at the Heart of America Athletic Conference Outdoor Championships Saturday in Oskaloosa, Iowa.
Bray led the women's team to an 11th place finish in the conference with 29 points. Grand View won the overall team title with 149 points. Meanwhile, the men's team finished 12th overall with 17 points in the competition. MidAmerica Nazarene won the men's team title with 177 points.
In winning the two sprints, Bray recording automatic qualifying times in both events, incluidng a school record in the 100. Bray finished the 100-meter dash with a time of 11.83 seconds, which eclipses the school record of 11.87 she set at Graceland earlier this year. In the 200-meter dash, Bray and Baker's Gloria Mares each finished with times of 24.50 seconds. However, Bray was awarded the top spot when times were stretced out to one-thousandths of a second with a time of 24.492 seconds to Mares' 24.498 seconds.
Ashlyn May earned all-conference honors with a third place finish in the 400-meter hurdles, setting a school record in the process, with a time of 1:08.28. Teammate Diarra Newson also placed in that race, finishing sixth with a time of 1:09.73.
In the men's events, Tyrin Holder garnered two top-5 finishes to lead the men's team. Holder earned all-conference honors with a third place finish in the 400-meter dash with a time of 49.76 seconds. He added a fifth place finish in the 200-meter dash with a time of 22.17 seconds.
The men's 4x100 relay team of Prewitt, Laine Chedwick, Denzel Campbell and Holder also earned point for the men's team with a seventh place finish in that event. The foursome completed the race in 44.62 seconds.
