The Culver-Stockton College men and women's golf teams competed in the two-day Mount Mercy Fall Classic this weekend at Hunter's Ridge Golf Course in Marion, Iowa.
The men's team carded a 36-hole total of 16-over 592 (298-294) to finish fifth overall out of 17 teams. The Wildcats finished third overall among four year schools competing in the event. Indian Hills Community College won the event with 3-under 573 (294-279).
Individually, Hunter Baggett and Ryan Keller each improved nine spots in the standings on day two and finished in a tie for 10th place. Both players carded identical scores of 3-over 147 (75-72). Sergio Garcia of Mount Mercy was medalist with a 4-under 140 (72-68).
Jon Roberson and Zach Kuhlman-Pfeiffer both carded scores of 5-over 149 (74-75) to end in a tie for 17th place, while Jamie Wilson rounded out the Wildcat fivesome with a score 12-over 156 (77-79) to place 48th overall.
In women's action, only two players competed for the Wildcats as individuals with Haley Barraza and Tara Bradley finishing 17th and 19th overall. Barraza shot a 38-over 182 (89-93) while Bradley carded a 44-over 188 (92-96). Kimberly Nelson of Grand View was medalist with an 11-over 153.
The men's team returns to action Sept. 26-27 at the Mid-South Classic at Sand Creek Station in Newton, Kan., while the women will next play in the Quincy University Fall Invitational at Spring Lake Country Club Sept. 25-26.
