The Culver-Stockton College golf teams opened the 2016-17 season in the Wolfpack Invitational at Cardinal Stritch University Monday and Tuesday at Brown Deer Park in Milwaukee, Wis.
The men's portion of the tournament was cut to 36 holes while the women's portion of the tournament only got 18 holes in after Tuesday's play was washed out due to heavy rain in the Milwaukee area.
In men's action, the Wildcats carded a two-round total of 303-289 to finish at 592 overall, which was good for fifth place in the seven-team field. Northwestern (Ohio) captured the men's team title with a 36-hole total of 576.
Individually, Ryan Keller was the top finisher for the Wildcats, carding a 2-over 144 to finish five strokes behind in third place. Keller shot 71-73 for his 36 holes.
Zach Kuhlman-Pfeiffer ended the tournament in 1th place with a 5-over 147 while Jon Roberson finished in a tie for 12th place after carding a 6-over 148. Hunter Baggett finished in a tie for 29th place and Jamie Wilson tied for 35th place.
In women's action, the Wildcats, shot a 426 in their only round of the tournament, finishing seventh out of seven schools. Cardinal Stritch captured its own tournament with a round of 316.
Layne Ray paced the women's effort with a 16-over 89 while Haley Barraza carded a 31-over 104 to place 35th overall. Tara Bradley and Natalie Ribaudo also participated for the Wildcats, finishing 36th and 38th overall, respectively.
Both teams are scheduled to participate in the Mount Mercy Fall Invitational Sept. 10-11 at Hunters Ridge Golf Course in Marion, Iowa.
