The Culver-Stockton College men's golf team finished sixth in the 12-team Beu/Mussatto Invitational at Western Illinois University Saturday afternoon at Harry Mussatto Golf Course in Macomb, Ill.
The Wildcats, who were in seventh place after the first 36 holes of the 54-hole tournament, carded a 302 Saturday to finish with a 915 overall total and finish ahead of Eastern Illinois University by 10 strokes. Defending champion William Woods (Mo.) won the event with a 54-hole total of 880.
Individually, Ryan Keller continued his stellar play in the spring with a 5-over 221 total and finished in a tie for eighth place. Keller was at 1-under after the first 18 holes on Friday and then shot a 5-over 77 in the second round before improving to a 1-over 73 Saturday.
Hunter Baggett carded a three-round total of 8-over 224 to finish in a tie for 16th place. Baggett was pretty steady throughout the three rounds, sandwiching a 74 around a pair of 75s. Jon Roberson finished 31st overall with a score of 17-over 233.
After a poor 36 holes Friday, Zach Kuhlman-Pfeiffer rebounded Saturday to shoot 3-over on the day but finished 25-over for the tournament. C-SC's fifth golfer, Chace Burrus finished the tournament with a score of 30-over 246.
The Wildcats return to action May 9-10 when they defend their Heart America Athletic Conference title at the Heart Championships at Swope Memorial Golf Course in Kansas City, Mo.
