The Culver-Stockton College men's golf team ended the fall portion of its schedule with a ninth place finish at the NAIA Championship Preview Tournament at TPC Deere Run in Silvis, Ill., Monday and Tuesday.
The Wildcats completed the two-day event, which was played where the 2016 NAIA Golf Championships will be contended, with a team score of 55-over 623 (317-306). C-SC tied with Cardinal Stritch (Wis.) (320-303) and Davenport (Mich.) (308-315) for ninth place. Coastal Georgia won the event with a score of 27-over 595 (302-293).
Individually, Jon Roberson led the five-man Wildcat contingent with a 10-over 152 to finish in a tie for 19th place. Roberson started the day in a tie for 12th place after shooting a 75 in windy conditions on day one. The individual medalist was Anthony Marchesani of Oklahoma City University, who carded a two-day total of 1-over 143.
After shooting 15-over 86 the first day, Drew Horner rallied with a four-over 75 on Tuesday to finish at 19-over 161 and finished in a tie for 65th place. Zach Kuhlman-Pfeiffer rounded out the Wildcat five-man unit with a score of 20-over 162 to finish in a tie for 72nd place.
