The Culver-Stockton College men's golf team posted a three-round score of 927 (+75) to finish eighth in its season opener at the Wolfpack Invitational hosted by Cardinal Stritch University at Brown Deer Park in Milwaukee, Wis., Monday and Tuesday.
The Wildcats struggled the first day finishing the opening round with a 319 team score before rallying in the second and third round with scores of 301 and 307, respectively. The score of 301 during the second round was the fourth-best score of the round by any team. Cardinal Stritch won the tournament with a three-round total of 876 (+24).
Individually, Ryan Keller and Hunter Baggett carded identical marks of 20-over par 233 to finish in a tie for 30th place. Both players were 19 shots behind the medalist, Vince Drahman of Marion (Ind.), who carded a three-round total of 1-over 214.
Zach Kuhlman-Pfeiffer ended up in 38th place with a score of 23-over 236, while Jon Roberson and Drew Horner each tied for 39th place with scores of 24-over 237. Horner shot the second-best round of any Wildcat player, carding a 1-over 72 during the second round. Baggett recorded the top round among the C-SC group, finishing with an even-par 71 during the second round.
The Wildcats return to action Sunday and Monday, Sept. 13-14, when they host the Wildcat Invitational at Spring Lake Country Club in Quincy, Ill. The first round is slated to begin at 1 p.m. Sunday, followed by the final round at 9 a.m. Monday.
